Nasty Little DISCLAIMER AGREEMENT
If you use DROP-C, you must accept this disclaimer of warranty.
The author disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied,
including, without limitation, the warranties of
merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author
assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
which may result from the use of DROP-C.
Introduction
------------
DROP-C will create a "USERxxx.BBS" to callers that drop carrier
to exit the BBS. When they call again they will get a message
asking them to exit the BBS properly. DROP-C will work with multi
lines, also you can create your OWN message to send the caller.
Easy set-up, safe, FAST operation.
What is Shareware?
------------------
Shareware is a form of distribution which gives users a chance to try
software before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
to use it, you are expected to register. Individual programs differ on
details -- some request registration while others require it, some
specify a maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything
from the simple right to continue using the software to an updated
program with printed manual.
Registration
------------
If you find DROP-C useful and you continue to use it after a reasonable
(30 days) trial period, you are required to make a registration payment
of $15.00 to Larry Edwards. See "REGIS.TXT" for more information.
The $15.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
computer at any one time.
You must treat a registered version of this software just like a book.
Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the same time,
this software may be used by any number of people and may be freely moved
from one computer location to another, as long as there is no possibility
of it being used in two different locations at the same time.
Commercial users of DROP-C must register and pay for their copies of the
program within 15 days of first use or their license is withdrawn. For
site-license information, contact the author direct.
You are encouraged to pass (unregistered) copies of DROP-C along
to your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their
copy if they find that they can use it. All registered users can get
a registered version of DROP-C by calling my BBS and downloading it.
(See REGIS.TXT for more details)
Though the program is not "crippled" in anyway, this shareware version
shows an "Unregistered" status message on the "Userxxx.BBS".
Please fill out the included registration order form (file REGIS.TXT)
and send in your registration today. You can send REGIS.TXT to your
printer by typing:
"COPY REGIS.TXT PRN" (without the quotes)
and then pressing ENTER while at the MS-DOS prompt.
What Do I Get for Registering, and Why Should I?
------------------------------------------------
Here are some reasons why you should register:
o You can pick up a registered copy of the program by calling my BBS,
with your name shown as being registered. When a new version comes
out you can download a registered copy from my BBS.
o You get a LIFETIME license, meaning you're entitled to all future
versions/upgrades of DROP-C.
o You get unlimited technical support via surface mail or electronic
mail.
o You have the author's ear when it comes to suggesting new features
and capabilities.
o You help increase competition in the software industry by keeping
prices low (shareware doesn't rely on expensive advertising).
o Finally, you can be proud of the honesty and integrity you've shown
in registering the program and having participated in the Shareware
revolution.
Installation and Operation
--------------------------
This is very simple, extract "DROP-C.EXE" into the WILDCAT home
directory, that is the same one that has your ACTIVITY.001 file.
Create a "POSTCALL.RUN" file in EACH NODE work area off the home directory.
I.E...C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1 (Node2,Node3 etc.)
If you already have a "Postcall.Run" file simply add the following line:
DROP-C x (where x = node number);
If you do not have one already simply create it as above and copy it to
that nodes work area. My "Postcall.Run" file looks like:
DROP-C 1
In your "CAT.BAT" file add the line something like:
If exist C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1 Postcall.Run C:\WC30\WCWORK\Postcall.bat
or if you have SET WCNODEID=x in your CAT.BAT then this will work:
If Exist C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE%WCNODEID%\POSTCALL.RUN
Either of these lines will cause the "POSTCALL" file to run the program.
Once the "Postcall.Run" file is executed, DROP-C takes off. It is a
very FAST program, as it reads the Activity.xxx file backwards. If the
last caller did drop carrier it will create a "USERxxx.BBS" file, where
xxx = the callers number on your BBS. DROP-C will write a message in
your Activity.xxx log showing you that a message was created for that
caller. The next time the caller calls in they are met with the message.
Once it has been received Wildcat will delete that message and write a
message to your Activity.xxx log indicating it sent the message.
DROP-C will also accept YOUR OWN message. If you wish to make your own
personalized message create it as "DROP-C.MSG" and put it into the
Wildcat Home directory. IF DROP-C finds this "DROP-C.MSG" file there it
will override the had coded message and use your "DROP-C.MSG instead.
You can use any of the @CODES@ within your message and they will be
displayed properly. One thing though, if you use your own message DO NOT
insert @PAUSE@ at the end, as DROP-C will automatically tack on a tagline
with the @PAUSE@ already in it.
WARNINGS!!!!!
------------
If you delete a caller or make any changes to your callers data file, then
I suggest you delete ALL of the "USERxxx.BBS" files from your WC30\DISP\
area. If you don't when Wildcat assigns a new caller a number they could
get the message intended for the old caller who had that number.
I have made 1 assumption ( and I hope it does not come back and bite me).
I am assuming that you keep all of your display files in a directory
called DISP off of your WILDCAT home directory. This is the area that
contains your "HELLOx.BBS" etc type of files and is where DROP-C will
attempt to put your "USERxxx.BBS" file.
If you have the "fast logon" enabled on your BBS, the caller will NOT
see the message created by DROP-C. Sorry, that is the way Wildcat is
set up. Future enhancements will be the creation directly to the users
message area.
